Software Freedom Law Center

The Software Freedom Law Center provides legal services to "protect and advance" FLOSS software. It was founded in 2005 and now represents some of the most important open source projects. The Center has a team of legal experts from around the world who offer advice on: licensing, legal defence and litigation, trademarks, patents and legal training.

Other activities of the Freedom Law Center include:

  • the development of the GNU General Public License v3
  • license review and analysis
  • license consulting and development

It also maintains a library of freely downloadable reports which analyse legal issues relating to the development and use of open source software as well as other issues relevant to the open source community.
