GNU LGPLThe GNU Library or "Lesser" General Public Licence is a specialised version of the GNU GPL for licensing the distribution of software libraries or components rather than complete applications or packages. It is designed to permit the linking of free software libraries into non-free programs. As a result of this it offers less protection of the freedom of the programs than the GPL. It comes in two versions:
Version 3.0 is a totally new, shorter version and has an emphasis on combined works and libraries. Once again, there is a recommendation to move to version 3 of the LGPL licence. |
